Dive deeper, explore further
The lure of the deep. There’s something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. Sometimes it’s a wreck that attracts you below 18 meters/60 feet, and on wall dives there may be a giant fan or a sponge you can’t leave unseen. Whatever it is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 40 meters/130 feet, you should take the Deep Diver Specialty course.
Are you a certified Open Water Diver, at least 15 years old and wish to scuba with confidence at depths down to 40 meters / 130 feet? Then the Deep Diver Specialty course is right for you.Â
What will you learn?
During this course you start by reviewing the reasons for deep diving and how important it is to know your personal limits. You will also gain more knowledge on the physics of deep diving and how to remain safe. The Deep Diver course involves some in person academic training as well as 3 training dives over 2 days. During the in-person academic and in-water sessions with your instructor you will go over:Â
Besides your basic scuba equipment and thermal protection you will also be using a dive computer, a dive light as well as slates. Your instructor may suggest and show you other extra gear appropriate for the local deep diving.
All of the gear needed for the course will be provided for you, and your instructor can also give you expert advice for purchasing your personal equipment for future dives.Â
As soon as you enroll in the program you gain access to the SSI Deep Diver online learning materials. Fantastic experience taking the “Try Freediving” course with Giannis. Instruction was clear, professional, well organized and fun! The shop has a great vibe, so I’m sure you will have a great experience at Amorgos Diving Center no matter what activity you select. Obviously very well-run.
Great diving Center! The team were kind, organised and they knew what they were doing! I did one dive and the experience was fantastic! The equipment is excellent and I would definitely recommend them!
Excellent diving center with a great team and also important: high quality gear! 🙂
Excellent diving center : serious, modern equipment, very nice team and thorough knowledge of Amorgos best diving spot. Giannis K and Dimitris, my freediving instructors were excellent teachers. Thanks a lot!
Amazing people, excellent staff, friendly & generally awesome! Made our experience (me wife & 9yo) on Amorgos so exciting & fun. Thanks to all the instructors & staff we had during our time – they made us all feel so welcome & cared for. Thank you, from Simon, Maddie, Libby & Teddy!
Absolutely professional diving center with multilingual crew and dive masters. Offer Freediving and Scuba. Great spots with – for Greece – a good amount of interesting fish, caves and ancient stuff like marble blocks and amphoras left over from a sunken ship.
Highly recommendable address and a must if you think about diving somewhere around Amorgos!
We offer a wide range of courses for both scuba and freediving. We are sure there is something for everyone!

The SSI Open Water Diver course generally takes 3-4 days but it is flexible and performance based, which means the schedule of your course can be organized to best fit your schedule and progress through the course.
If you don’t have the time, SSI Scuba Diver is a limited certification that only takes 2 days!
